Hack Ack

Contest Information:

This lighthearted contest is focused on fun and spontaneity. Attendees will learn of the guidelines the week before the conference. They will then have until Tuesday evening to create something along the theme. Use of items prepared prior to the competition is not allowed, unless these items are available to everyone.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in this contest. Teams are equally good as individuals. Even employees of Platte Canyon or SumTotal Systems may participate, but they may only do so on an exhibition basis (no awards or judging for them).

Judging is by audience applause and will occur immediately after all entries are presented.

Hack Ack presentations will be interspersed with Karaoke/Rock Band performances -- so showmanship may certainly rank high among the "judges."

How to Enter

Show up! There is no entry procedure. We will simply ask for anyone who wants to present their Hack-Ack entry to sign up on a notepad at the beginning of the Tuesday evening social.

Also, it will be up to each participant to arrange for a laptop to demo the application on. We will have one or two machines if needed, but this should be arranged ahead of time.

It's all about fun.

Attendee Comments:
  • The conference was very well organized. This was my first time and I never felt overwhelmed or lost. I truly appreciated that.  (2008)
  • Paid for itself in one session.  (2006)
  • I just wanted to thank you again for putting on such a great conference. You're really providing a service to all of us struggling developers. The facilities are great and the informal atmosphere builds a great sense of community.  (2002)
  • Most of all, TBCON is a serious, focused three days with no frills. Lots of seminars, no vendors and expositions, long winded speeches, or tons of extra-curricular activity. Therefore, the money spent on the conference and getting there goes totally to your development and nothing else. I think it's the best bargain for the money.  (2001)
  • It was very worthwhile, with much to digest and implement. I look forward to next year's conference, and hopefully more people from our organization will be able to attend and benefit directly.  (1999)
  • TBCON was the best I have been to in several years. Cheers to Jeff, Chris, and all the Platte Canyon gang for a great conference.  (1999)
